Using the following Mipower checklist, you can see if your home is suitable.
Q: I have an un-shaded roof space facing between east and west through south.
A: A north-facing or very heavily shaded roof may be unsuitable for solar panels. Contact us if you're not sure.
Q: My property is not a basement or a mid-floor flat.
A: These types of property are unsuitable for solar panels.
Q: I own the freehold of my property.
A: If you rent your property, you will need explicit written permission from the landlord to install solar PV panels. If you have a leasehold property, again you will need permission from the freeholder to install solar PV.
Q: I have a property with a pitched or sloping roof.
A: A pitched roof is usually ideal for Solar PV installation, whilst Flat roofs can almost always have a solar technology system. Call us if you're not sure
Q: My property is not in a conservation area, nor is it a Listed building.
A: You don't need planning permission for most home solar PV systems. If your building is listed, or is in a conservation area you will need to contact your local planning officer. If you're not sure, contact us.
If you have said yes to all 6 points then your home is likely to be suitable for a solar PV system.
